Today I thought I would mix it up a little and throw in a beauty post. Recently as we are in lockdown I have gotten a bit more of a routine and I thought I would share with you the products that I couldn’t recommended enough.
You may notice the lack of makeup on this list, however I feel like that may be pretty self explanatory at this point. I honestly can’t remember the last time I wore makeup on my face.
Vaseline
Not only great for your lips. This might sound so weird but this little hack has changed my life. You may remember 12 or so years ago when a Miss Georgia Nicholson absolutely covered her eyelashes in Vaseline and her mum thought she’d gone mad, well there was method to her madness.
Don’t slaver your eyelashes in Vaseline. However, put a generous amount of Vaseline on your eyelashes before going to bed. You may not notice a difference in the beginning but keep at it and I promise you it will change your life.
Now, I barely wear mascara. With an eyelash tint and a eyelash curler, I can make my eyelashes look like a lash lift, thanks to the love Vaseline has given my eyelashes.
Neutrogena Refreshing Clear Facial Wash
I have used this product on and off since I was 15. I remember singing its praises in the changing rooms before P.E. I am very lucky in the fact that my skin is good (I think that it may be down the fact that I don’t wear foundation), but whenever I do have a breakout, this product sorts me right out in just a few days. I think we’re just very compatible and I’ve found my face wash soulmate.
It’s such a great product, and I’ve heard from friends that it’s a product that dermatologists recommended (it also says that on the bottle). It’s very affordable (always on offer somewhere) and you get normally get it even cheaper in shops like Savers or B&M. I have always have two bottles on the go, one in the shower and one on the sink.
Tresemme Shampoo and Conditioner
Not to sound dramatic, but these products have changed my life. I am not kidding. My hair was a difficult thing to handle and I went years only brushing it when I washed it. So, I basically ran around like a mad women with scruffy hair.
Then came the day that changed my life forever. I went and bought Tresemme shampoo and conditioner, and only because it was on offer in Wilkos and the bottles were so big, I knew I wouldn’t have to buy shampoo or conditioner for the rest of the uni year.
These products changed the texture of my hair, took most of the frizz (and sadly, my curls) away. Now I can brush my hair whenever I want to and not have to wash it straight after.
As much as I miss my curls, my hair is so much easier to deal with now. I honestly don’t think I will ever use another shampoo or conditioner on my hair (willingly) again.
I know Tresemme can be a bit pricey at times, but like some of the other products I have mentioned, you can get a great bargain when you get them on offer, places like B&M and Wilkos are always selling them cheaper and they usually come in huge bottles anyway, that last for quite a while.
Superdrug Vitamin E Range
Specifically the day and night cream. I use these products every single day. They are great and the day cream has SPF in (which is absolutely essential when you’re a ginger like me).
As well as being great products, they are super affordable, and again usually on offer.
One thing I would mention about the day cream, the SPF in it which can make the formula and overall feel of the product quite thick. Therefore, when I’m working (as a waitress) I won’t wear it as it can make my face sweat (ew). That’s when I’ll use something lighter on my skin.
I also use their eye cream, which I like (I think). Eye creams are a funny product for me as I have never noticed a difference with any of them, but I feel like I should use one as I’m only getting older. And perhaps when I am a little bit older, I will thank myself for it.
I would like to mention that I didn’t really get on with the Vitamin E all over body cream. I found the texture to be thin and sticky, and it sits on top of your skin for a while, meaning I have to sit in the freezing cold; in my knickers, waiting for it to settle on my skin.
A Good Eyelash Curler
This might sound a bit strange but, for years I have been using eyelash curlers that have come from Christmas sets, or £1 from Primark. I thought, yea they were doing the job, apart from the occasional time (sometimes pretty frequently) when I’d get my eyelashes stuck in them. A very painful experience if you haven’t experienced it for yourself.
Whilst perusing through TK Maxx a few months ago, I picked up a Skinny Dip eyelash curler, it was £10 reduced to £3.99, and I thought, why not?
And thank god, because it has changed my life. The difference in my eyelashes, like I said earlier, I don’t even wear mascara anymore (which is good because I friggen hate taking it off). Honestly, if you’re going to invest in something in your makeup bag, let it be a good eyelash curler and you don’t even need to spend that much, just more than a £1. Just make sure it’s a springy one, if that makes sense?
