Let's talk about bags!
Like most girls, I have fallen into the trap of bags. It can be a pretty expensive habit (I'm not sure if that's the right word). For me especially it has become a bit of an addiction, but it has also meant that I'm never short of a bag, and have at least one for every situation. Therefore, I thought I would talk about the 'essential' type of bags in my collection. However, instead of talking bag styles, I'm taking a more pragmatic approach...
The Everyday Bag (AKA - the pick up and go bag)
Which is super convenient but at the same time I do end up spending the day carrying around stuff I don't need...
For me, the bag in question is my DKNY top handle bag. It's pretty versatile, which means it goes with pretty much everything. It has a shoulder strap which makes carrying it around much easier. I like to have something that I can just grab, rather than having to worry about packing a bag every time I go out. Even if that does mean that a lot of the time I am carrying around the most pointless items...
The Keys, Purse, Phone Bag
Since we went into this pandemic, unfortunately this bag has become redundant. Apart from the fact that we barely leave the house anyway, but now, it's not just keys, phone, purse. It's: Phone, keys, purse, hand sanitizer, mask...
My Kate Spade Chain Wallet Bag is the perfect bag for this. I have worn it so much, however it literally only fits my phone, keys and a small purse, and a lip product. Which like I said doesn't really bode well in this current climate.
What I loved about this bag, is literally was strapped over my body, carried the essentials, and I could dance the night away and not have to worry. I am talking full on dance, sprinkler, running man and it still was intact with all of my belongings there.
The More than Keys, Purse, Phone Bag
This is the bag that I take out when I need to carry a little more. A perfect example for this is day drinking...
For a bag like this, for me I am (again) looking for something that can be dressed up but at the same time, I won't look stupid wearing it casually either.
My black Coach shoulder bag was an absolute find and fits perfectly into this criteria. I ended up paying £90 for it, and it was originally £225 (I think). Every person who asks me about the bag (and even those who don't) I will tell them about the discount I got from this sale. It's a baguette bag, which very in, but at the same time not to 'baguetty', as in when this trend is over, I won't feel outdated wearing it. And of course, it fits a lot more in it, which means its perfect for when I need to carry more than just my essentials.
The Roomy Bag
This kind of bag for me comes in two forms. The tote bag or the back pack.
The tote/shopper bag - I have a few of these bags. They're super handy for throwing stuff in, for example if you're spending the night away or like a day out to the beach or something. I think for me the rule of thumb with a tote bag is that it has to fit my laptop in it, otherwise I do think it's a waste of money. One of the only times I carry a bag that big, is either when it's an overnight bag or I am going somewhere with my laptop.
This Kate Spade bag was a Black Friday purchase, it was very spontaneous but I am so happy with it. It's a little different, looks great with plain outfits and most importantly like I have said, it fits my laptop.
The backpack - I rarely wear my backpack, but there are times when it comes it really handy, like days out and while I was at uni, I would use them for trips too. So for me, I like to have one handy for those kinds of times. For instance, a trip to a theme park or something.
The Fancy Bag
This bag is rarely used, however it's still needed in the collection. For me, it's really rare that I go really formal but when I do, I like to have a fancy bag to go with the outfit. I have a beaded clutch that was bought when I was 16 for my prom and I still love it. It is versatile and I think there's only been two formal events where I've not been able to use it because it didn't match my outfit.
The Other Colour Bag
If you're like me and most of the bags you own are black. You'll know that sometimes a black bag wont cut it. For example, if there is nothing on your outfit that's black.
I like to make sure I have a bag to match my shoes, therefore the two 'other colour' bags are white and red.
This baguette bag from Urban Outfitters is perfect (even though I've not had the chance to wear it out yet). It also matches my white boots.
