Hi.
For some reason when starting my business; in an attempt at seeming more professional, I've kept sharing my personality to a minimum. However, I have recently realised that sharing who I am is not going to make me seem less professional, all that it's doing is making me seem more distant from my readers and clients. It takes a lot to share your work with someone, especially a stranger...
I'm Sophie, I'm 23 (very nearly 24) and I'm a freelance writer/ editor and waitress. A year ago, I finished university, with a Masters in Publishing alongside my Bachelors in Creative and Professional Writing. And one day, I hope to publish my own work of fiction.
I have always loved to read and have a variety of different favourites. Classic literature will always have a place in my heart, I think it's the history behind it all and how incredible it is that each author is ahead of their time in some way. Imagine writing a book that is remembered and still read centuries ahead and having that much of an impact on literature. I like Science Fiction too, specifically dystopian. My comfort is Chick Lit, it's feel good literature and also gives me some kind of comfort. Authors such as Lindsey Kelk and Sophie Kinsella are my favourite.
I love to write as well. I think at university I found my voice as a writer. I wouldn't say I have picked a specific genre to write in, however I think I have found my style. I like to use words to my advantage and manipulate the structure of my story to have an impact. I love that there are no limits in writing, you can literally write about whatever you want, so I try not to limit myself.
I have always loved to read, however I found a love of working with other writers on their work while I was at university. As a Creative Writing student, sharing your work with others and having workshops was a very important part of the writing process and during this time, I found how much I loved being involved in the process of other people's work. That's how I realised I wanted to work with writers and that's why I started Sophie's Proof.
And for now, that's me...
