What is a copywriter?

Now that I have introduced my copywriting services into my business, I thought it would be a good idea to explain exactly what a copywriter is and what they do.

According to the Oxford Dictionary,

A copywriter: "A person whose job it is to write the words for advertising material."

In my words, a copywriter is a professional who writes copy (text) to inform, communicate or advertise a product or service. It's a copywriter's job to ensure text stands out and is informative, that it reflects on a companies product or service and not only encourages consumers to purchase, but to also show them how much they need this product/ service. This is all while keeping to a businesses tone and voice.

A few examples of what a copywriter may produce copy for:

  • Blog posts

  • Social media

  • Business communications

  • Websites

  • Product/ service descriptions

  • Leaflets/ brochures

  • Newsletters

  • eBooks

However, copywriters are not restricted to this list. Any copywriter would be happy to discuss the copy you're looking for and work with you if they are able to.
